United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment)
The United Nations Environmental Programme, aims to create global solutions for environmental issues worldwide. Its mission statement claims that the committee will “[promote] the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the UN system.” This means that UNEP stands as a global leader for sustainability and seeks to inspire and encourage partnership between nations to find solutions in our ever changing world that will not compromise the lives of future generations. It aims to increase the efforts employed in environmental problems such as climate change, global warming, and increasing sea-level, amongst others. Within ASFMUN, UNEP will focus on debate and resolutions for the spreading issue of smog in cities and the effects on human health, as well as the implementation of Carbon Tax and its impact on a nation's economy and energy production. We hope all delegates engage in formal conversation in order to find solutions for two of the most impactful problems worldwide today.
