XVIII Shakespeare Competition

The Shakespeare Competition organized by the Anglo Mexican Foundation is a curricular-focused program designed to assist students in the development of their language skills and dramatic talent, from the memorization and on-stage representation of both a monologue and of a sonnet by William Shakespeare. Different schools in Mexico City participate in the competition each year for a grand prize. This year, students from Colegio Columbia joined our students on stage.

Students from each school memorize and present on stage a sonnet and monologue by William Shakespeare. In this event, three winners selected by a specialized jury are selected. The co-winners of the first place win their participation, with all expenses covered, to the Midsummer Conservatory Program (MCP), an intensive course in Oxford at the British American Drama Academy. The second place wins a trip to New York, with all expenses covered, to participate in the final of the National Shakespeare Contest of The English-Speaking Union of the United States, which takes place at the Lincoln Center.
