The ASF Public Speaking and Debate Team was part of the Anglo-ESU Public Speaking Competition over the past month.
Its objective is to provide opportunities to develop vital public speaking and critical thinking skills that enable participants to build powerful narratives. On March 4th, our Students participated in the competition finals for both Category A and Category B based on their ages.
With a highly emotive speech about transforming our perceptions surrounding first impressions, Emiliano Tornel won first place for Category A, receiving an award of a catered selection of books and a language certification course.
For Category B, however, the stakes were a bit higher since the winner of the competition will be representing Mexico in the ESU International Finals held in London this summer. Congratulations to Valeria Fonseca who delivered a heart-breaking speech about the inability of governments to fully safeguard human rights, giving her audience chills as she recounted the stories of immigrant children seeking asylum.
