Join us for the Innovation Leadership Summit!

The American School Foundation is proud to invite all parents, teachers and community members to the Innovation Leadership Summit which will take place on February 27, featuring guest speaker, Dr. William Rankin.

Dr. William Rankin (ADE class of 2009) has spent more than 20 years designing and building facilities that leverage technology to improve higher education. For the past five, he's been at the forefront of an effort to understand how emerging mobile technologies and digital media can make education more engaging, more effective, and more relevant. His work on Abilene Christian University's "Connected" initiative, that gave an iPhone or iPod touch to every student, has led him to a new way of thinking about the nature of learning and teaching, favoring a student-centric model that combines in-class and in-situ experiences. Inspired by his academic study of medieval pedagogies, he believes that our technologies have finally caught up with the way people have always learned, restoring — even as they are updating — models of education that have been around for millennia. Next-generation mobile technologies now provide us with entirely new opportunities for engaging with real-world learning, replacing the decontextualized space of traditional classrooms with real-world — and very connected — forms of learning. In this collection, Rankin explores what he calls the "three ages of information" and talks about some of the reasons he and his team embraced mobility, as well as what they've learned from the process.

Please join us for a networking cocktail from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. and for Dr. Rankin's presentation at 7:00 p.m. in the Ángeles Espinosa Yglesias Fine Arts Center. We look forward to seeing you!
