Leonora Carrington at ASF: May 6 to 9, 2024

Created by Marilyn Buckvold, Visual Arts Coordinator

The K-12 Art Department is proud to host "Dreams in Flight: A Surreal Homage to Leonora Carrington," a dazzling art exhibition from May 6th to 9th in the Fine Arts Center.

The exhibition will showcase an array of imaginative and dreamlike student-created pieces from ECC to Upper School alongside several authentic works by Leonora herself. This year, the Art Department has worked closely with the Consejo Leonora Carrington and Galeria Errante to bring Leonora's art onto our campus. Thanks to this connection, ASF has had the honor of displaying Leonora's "If Pigs Could Fly" sculpture in our Founders' Garden this school year.

The "Dreams in Flight" art exhibit pays tribute to the beloved flying pig and Leonora's fantastical body of work. During the same week, the AP 2D students will be showcasing their artwork in the gallery upstairs. There will be an opening event on Tuesday, May 7th at 2:45 p.m. in the FAC.

All are welcome to attend and celebrate Leonora Carrington's enduring legacy and her profound impact on ASF's K-12 artists.
