General Assembly

The General Assembly is one of the six main organs of the UN that is used to  to discuss and work together on a wide array of international issues covered by the Charter of the United Nations, such as development, peace and security, international law and others.

As the mission statement claims, “migration is a natural feature of our humanity, presenting opportunities but also challenges and vulnerabilities that we are struggling to address". This committee will be able to immigration first hand, hearing narratives of the migrant caravans who cross Mexico in our conscience programme. With this knowledge, we hope our delegates will be able to put themselves in the shoes of immigrants to find a solution to unjust cross-border policies and a lack of basic immigrant rights. The General Assembly should continue to promote the two recent milestone agreements – the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, and the Global Compact on Refugees. Together these agreements provide coherence to the global efforts required for safe, orderly and regular migration, as well as to ensure the protection and assistance of over 25 million refugees around the world.
