Paul Williams as Remembered by the ASF Community

A little over a month after Paul Williams’ passing, we continue to honor his life and legacy at ASF. We have decided to put together a compilation of quotes about Paul, that we have extracted from our social media channels. Please take into account that some quotes were sent in English, some in Spanish and some in a bit of both. We hope no one feels left out! It would have been impossible to include everyone’s kind words in a single document, which clearly reflect our community’s deep love and appreciation of Paul.

¡Gracias Paul!” - Mercedes Paillés (employee)

“Paul was a great man in so many ways. I am honored to have had the opportunity to work for a legend like Paul Williams. These last few years after I left ASF I have had the opportunity to have more contact with Paul because of my work. He was always kind enough to make time to have a proper conversation with me, suggest great restaurants and have truly meaningful discussions about education. I also am very grateful to his help with our company when we were just getting started. He put in a good word for us and was always encouraging us. I just wanted to reach out to the ASF community and offer my condolences as well as my thoughts are with you all. I'm sure this is a difficult time for the community that knew and loved him. He truly was a great man. RIP Paul Williams.” - Mark Webber (former employee)

“Mexico lost a wonderful educator of the greatest caliber, and so many of us lost a great friend. We will cherish and be grateful for all that he has done for us and our school. He IS ASF and he will live on in our hearts and memories forever. I am so very grateful you were a part of my life and my family’s. The things you taught me will stay with me forever. Godspeed my friend. Lo diste todo por nosotros. Love you. I will forever be grateful.” - Helga Klein (alumna and mother)

“I can't really recall the first time we crossed words. You were never my teacher, my dean or the principal while I was in Upper School, you were the Head of School my last two years in ASF, I know that. But somehow, we met and I found a teacher, a dean, a principal and a friend in you. Someone people could count on and could ask for advice. Your door was always open when anyone needed help. One of the last times I visited ASF I had tickets to the Falafeada and I offered you one. You took out your wallet and bought five tickets from me. I said "Wow Mr. Williams you're bringing a bunch of people", and you said "No Sergio I’m really busy that day, but I know it's for a good cause, and I’m glad I can help a little". You were always that kind of man, a kind man.”- Sergio Elías (alumnus)

“I was a student at ASF before and after Paul Williams started working there. We went through several heads-of-school until Paul finally reconciled and bridged the changes the board wanted with the needs of students and faculty. He always brought open-mindedness and joy to his work and his life, lived very genuinely authentically generously and kindly. Rest in Peace Paul,
you are very loved.” - Danny Rajunov (alumnus)
