Alumni Stories and News

During Earth Week at ASF, students had the opportunity to listen to four engaging Alumni with great sustainability and environmental careers. Meet Mónica Lafon (‘04), Michelle Kalach (‘13), Dorian Posternak (‘13) and Nicolás Bodek (‘13).

Mónica Lafon (‘04) talked to Grade 9 students learning biology in their Ecology and Sustainability unit. They learned about the nexus between biodiversity and climate change and the need for urgent action.

Michelle Kalach (13) joined us at Earth Week and talked about a sustainable lifestyle for all. She replenished an abandoned lot and made a project called “El Terreno” which encourages young people's interest in environmental issues, stimulating them also to provide a closer connection to the cycles of food production and sustainable living.

Dorian Posternak (‘13) got all the students to listen to her talk and they all participated very actively. She talked about the “Ecological impact on food production”, creating connections and learning moments for our current Bears.

Nicolás Bodek (‘13) initiated his talk with a theme very different from the normal environmental talks. He talked about Carbon Footprint and Decarbonization, touching on decarbonization solutions such as renewable energy. Many students were surprised by the different components that carbon can go to and their impact on their carbon footprint.
