Open Call

ASF Talks Keynote Speaker: Tony Karam

Marco Antonio Karam is the founder of Tibet House Mexico, one of the most important specialists and disseminators of Tibetan culture and spirituality in the Spanish speaking world and part of our community. He is a direct disciple of the Dalai Lama and an ASF dad! In the next edition of ASF Talks, on March 20, we will have the privilege of hearing about his journey and about the 2019 ASF Talks theme: Dreams.

After an extensive academic training in Tibet, Nepal and the United States, during which he established a relationship with some of the most prominent Tibetologists and Lamas from various traditions of Tibetan Buddhism, Marco Antonio Karam founded Tibet House Mexico. The House has the recognition of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Central Tibetan Administration in exile the Tibet Office in Washington, and the Office of Tibet in New York. The Tibet House Mexico is the first official cultural representation of the Tibetan people and His Holiness the Dalai Lama, for Mexico and Latin America.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama, (Nobel Peace Prize, 1989), visited Mexico in July 1989, in order to inaugurate Tibet House Mexico and participate in an international forum on global priorities. Since then, under Marco Antonio's leadership, Tibet House Mexico has brought His Holiness the Dalai Lama on four separate occasions, as well as organized visits, talks and courses by the greatest Lamas, spiritual leaders and Buddhist personalities from all over the world, such as His Holiness the Karmapa XVII Trinley Thaye Dorje, His Holiness Karmapa XVI Rangjung Rigpe Dorje, Shamar Rinpoche Mipham Chökyi Lödro, Lama Ole Nydahl, Richard Gere, Geshe Sopa, Geshe Sherab Thabkey, Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche, Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche, Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo, Lama Pema Wangdak, Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, Nedo Rinpoche, Ven. Thubten Wangchen and Lobsang Sangay, among many others.
