April 3, 2020 Dear Parents,
In a few short hours our teachers, students, support staff and administrators will begin our holiday week. To each of you and your families, I wish you a joyous time together.
While our concentration over the past couple of weeks has been entirely inward looking towards the education of our current students, I would like to express my gratitude to another segment of our community—our graduates and parents.
I know that many of you, upon leaving ASF or whatever school you attended, went on to serve in a variety of fields—medicine, law, government service, entrepreneurship, and the like. To each of you I would like to express our gratitude and to say how proud you make us. To ASF grads and parents on the front lines fighting this epidemic—doctors, nurses, medical responders, to those of you who keep us safe—thank you. This week may offer you no rest, but know that we appreciate your sacrifice. To those of you who serve Mexican society in government or politics, in education or research institutes—thank you. And for those of you in businesses large and small, who are working right now to keep Mexico strong and offer other individuals the dignity of work and jobs to support their families—thank you.
Whether your tradition is that behind the celebrations of Semana Santa or you follow some other tradition, whether you worship in a church or a temple or a synagogue or a mosque or simply hold a faith in the common humanity that we all share in common with each other, have a blessed week and I look forward to reconnecting with you soon.
Sincerely yours,
Mark Iver Sylte Executive Director
