ASF has a competitive admission process, and consistently receives many more applications than spaces are available. We have to make difficult decisions due to limited space. We know each child is an individual with his/her own strengths. To determine fitness for ASF admission, we consider all aspects of a candidate’s profile, including mission alignment, academic level, citizenship and readiness to study in English. We want to ensure admitted students are ready to be successful at ASF, and that we can serve them as they deserve.

Students should have a minimum 80% average (or equivalent) with no failing grades (does not apply to Early Childhood Center)at their current school. Students must have a strong command of English in grades 1 and up. English is not required for K1 and K2, and we will test for English proficiency in K3 and up, understanding that candidates may still be learning English.

ASF opens spaces for new students for K1, K2, K3, and 1st grades. Space in other grades depends on the number of withdrawals received. K2 is the most common point of entry to ASF, with 90-100 students admitted annually. K3 and grades 1, 6, 7, 9 and 10 are also common points of entry, limited only by the availability or space.

Children of U.S. citizens residing in Mexico and native English speakers who need a U.S. accredited education are given admission priority. Nevertheless, in all cases, applicants must be deemed qualified and mission appropriate. Admission is not guaranteed for anyone. At ASF, we recognize the desirability of having family members attend the same school. Siblings of currently enrolled students and children of ASF Mexico City alumni and employees are given admission priority. Students with a demonstrated history of success at ASF and other schools attended (such as students whose families are returning to Mexico after living abroad) are frequently able to return to study at ASF. Nevertheless, space must be available, and students must complete an admissions review.

ASF has rolling admission for families arriving from abroad. You are free to begin your application as soon as possible. For more information about specific grade level availability, please email admission@asf.edu.mx. 

ASF takes deadlines seriously, both as a reflection of a family’s interest, as well as for reasons of practicality. The Admission Office maintains a wait list of late applicants who may be considered if spaces are available after our usual admission cycle concludes in April. Regrettably, ASF cannot provide individualized feedback on candidate decisions. The admission process is complex, involving multiple people and confidential information. For this reason, feedback cannot be provided. Students who are not admitted are free to reapply for future school years. Maintaining excellent citizenship and grades can help applicants improve their chances.

ASF is a day school. We do not have boarding facilities or a homestay option. Students must live with their parents or responsible adult legal guardians while enrolled at ASF, even once they reach the age of 18.

ASF does not maintain a waiting list from year to year. K1 is our first available grade, for students who will turn 3 before September 1 of the school year in question. Applications open one year in advance.
