Experience a taste of the spontaneous nature of the real UN and international relations with our ad hoc committee, where you decide the topics the moment you take the floor. Ad hoc delegates should have a complete mastery of their country’s foreign policy to be able to debate any topic, as topics are delegate-chosen within the committee. Are you up to the challenge of fully embodying the foreign policy of your country? (Recommended for advanced delegates who enjoy crises).

BACKGROUND GUIDE

Level: Beginner

A unique experience to learn the fundamentals of changing our social reality, not through the development of resolutions but by building guidelines and creating policies for our homes, classrooms and jobs. The committee will explore the history of the Feminist Movement and its successes to set a precedent for what we are able to do on our own, without expecting others to intercede when someone is put at a disadvantage. Being different from the traditional Model United Nations committees, you will then have to represent yourself and challenge your role as a Feminist and what political activism entails. It’s not just occupying streets or voicing vulnerable stories after all. (Recommended for delegates with a strong interest in activism, social justice, and women’s rights).

BACKGROUND GUIDE

Level: Beginner 

The New York Times is a daily newspaper based in Manhattan, New York with a mission to help people understand the complexities of modern society. Members of this committee will act as ambassadors for the journal itself, therefore while each position may have a particular focus, everyone will be required to collaborate to have a well-functioning board. The main objective of this committee is to produce a magazine or newspaper to later be published as a product of ASFMUN. As editors, you are expected to engage, collaborate, design, and write in hopes of solidifying your understanding of journalism and its relevance in the 21st century. (Recommended for delegates with strong writing skills and/or an interest in media literacy).

Nivel: Intermedio

El comité está diseñado para delegados con suficiente experiencia en modelos de Naciones Unidas ya que es un comité donde se requiere un conocimiento histórico extenso del México del ayer. Buscamos delegados que puedan adaptarse a situaciones complicadas flexiblemente. Para esto, se tiene que tener investigación extensiva sobre su posición, para poder desarrollar resoluciones claramente basadas en la realidad. En el comité van a debatir sobre la ideología detrás de la insurgencia del EZLN en 1994 y la representación de los pueblos indígenas en México.
