Office of Institutional Advancement

The role of the Office of Institutional Advancement is to raise funds for The American School Foundation by promoting the school in the community among prospective donors. Using the School's Strategic Plan, Development structures goals and objectives, as well as establishes performance measures to achieve the overall plan.

Contributing to ASF

For almost 120 years, The American School Foundation has educated Mexican and United States citizens, as well as youngsters from other nationalities. Without the support of parents and friends over the years, the ASF would not have become the educational and cultural leader it is today. However, looking to the future, the ASF seeks the support of its families as it cannot achieve its goal alone. By participating in and supporting ASF's future, parents build on the tradition of the past in creating the American School of the 21 st Century.

Making a contribution to ASF is one of the easiest ways for parents to support their child's education. The American School 's Office of Institutional Advancement (formerly called the Development Office) is responsible for all programs related to the Advancement of ASF and its programs.

The American School is one of the very few independent, non-profit schools in Mexico . The cost of educating each of our children exceeds the tuition we charge. ASF depends on generous contributions so that each child can receive the best possible educational experience.

Parents and faculty are encouraged to participate in and contribute to ASF fundraising efforts which benefit the areas of academic endeavors, technology, fine arts, athletics, financial aid and community outreach programs at the school. Here are some ways you can make a difference in the lives of ASF students:

Annual Fund Drive , now entering its 6th year, is a vital component of the day-to-day life of our institution. All gifts to the Annual Fund are channeled directly into the current operating budget in the year in which they are received, so students benefit immediately from that gift. Playground equipment, technology upgrades, and financial aid packages are just a few of the ways the Annual Fund has helped support ASF.

Capital , Major and Special Gifts are solicited when the school identifies a critical need for a project or projects beyond the scope of tuition and annual giving. In these cases, individuals and families may offer to give or be asked individually to consider a significant gift or multi-year pledge. These gifts are usually made in support of an area of special interest to an individual donor and are based on each donor's ability to give. The American School currently seeks capital support for the implementation of the Master Building Plan 2003-2010, “Great Minds Need Great Spaces”.

Endowment Fund - The Endowment Fund for Financial Aid, established in 1986, is a tool which will enables ASF to fund the need-based awards for approximately 20% of its student body. It is the very foundation for supporting diversity which sets us apart from other schools. The Financial Aid packages for students offer reductions in tuition from 10% to 50%.

Fundación de Asistencia Educativa Irene Anzaldúa I.A.P. (FAEIA) was created in May of 1997, to honor Mrs. Irene Anzaldúa who was a former teacher, Principal and loved member of the ASF family. Since then it has given financial aid to students from K-12 that otherwise could not attend ASF. The FAEIA is a I.A.P., this means that all its funds and operations are diligently and carefully audited by the Mexican Government through the “Junta de Asistencia Privada”.
