The American School Giving Program

Elena Fortes Acosta ('99) won an award. The International Young Screen Entrepreneur (IYSE) Award is designed to champion and to celebrate the importance of creative entrepreneurs working in the field of film and television. In 2010 competitors from the following economies will participate in the IYSE, Argentina, Colombia, China, Estonia, India, Indonesia, Lebanon, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. This year's award was won by an ASF alumni Elena Fortes Acosta ('99).  Finalists for the Award will visit the UK in October 2010 to undertake a common program where they will take part in valuable networking, both with the key UK film and television sector partners
and amongst their IYSE peers.  Elena was selected by a committee of the British Council in Mexico and will be a great representative as she has been involved in many film projects for several years.  She is the daughter of Magdalena Acosta Fortes, and the grandaughter of Magdalena (Magda) Acosta Urquidi ('42). Maria Kruttschnitt Johnston ‘55 and her husband, Robert, recently visited Louise Kruttschnitt Morad ’56 and her husband James.  Maria and Robert live in Dallas, Texas and have two sons and three granddaughters. Louise and James live in Washington DC have two daughters and four grandsons.

Louise has traveled the world and held numerous art exhibits.  Maria is working for the Foundation for the Education of Young Women that a dear friend founded. It supports all-girls urban public schools in Texas: www.feyw.org
